BJP stand on rehabilitation measures

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 13 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh has insisted that the Assam Accord should be the basis for rehabilitation of the relief camp inmates in Kokrajhar and other conflict-hit areas.

A delegation of the BJP led by its national executive member Sarbananda Sonowal met Governor JB Patnaik today and submitted a memorandum to him calling for fulfillment of seven demands of the party.

It needs to be mentioned here that the BJP has strongly opposed the suggestion of a senior Congress leader that electricity bill, ration card and BPL card should be accepted as legal documents while rehabilitating the relief camp inmates in the violence-hit areas.

We strongly demand that the relief camp inmates should be rehabilitated on the basis of the 1971 voters list only, said the party.

The party while expressing its resentment against the Congress party, called upon the Governor to do the needful so as to ensure that no illegal migrant is rehabilitated.
