HAFLONG, Oct 16 - As a part of their agitational programme against the Congress Government in the State, the BJP district committee here staged a dharna in front of the office of the Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner on Thursday.
The district committee of the BJP launched the agitational programme in protest against rampant corruption, besides non-implementation of Government schemes by the ruling Congress party in Dima Hasao district.
Hundreds of BJP members, including State-level leaders took part in the programme at Haflong and highlighted the BJPs aims and objectives in the greater interest of the people.
Addressing the gathering, State BJP general secretary in charge of Dima Hasao, Mission Ranjan Das said that the people of Assam have expressed their collective confidence on the BJP as successive Congress governments had belied the hopes and aspiration of the mass people over the years.
BB Hagjer, Dima Hasao BJP district committee president in his speech mentioned that the people of Dima Hasao had also lost confidence on the Congress for its utter failure to deliver justice to the people.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner, detailing the grievances of the public.
