BJP slams Rahuls minimum income guarantee promise

By Staff Correspondent

SILCHAR, March 26 - Minister of Rural Development in the Uttar Pradesh Government and BJPs man-in-command for conducting elections in Assam, Mahendra Singh slammed the promise of minimum income guarantee to the tune of Rs 72,000 annually for the downtrodden made by Congress president Rahul Gandhi terming it to be a massive lie.

Addressing the media in Silchar on Tuesday, Mahendra Singh said if there is any gold medal for dishing out lies, Congress president will be an uncontested winner. Mr Gandhi knows the party is at zero hence the family-based pattern of politics is bringing all the members to forefront. It is a pity to see a party which had used the poor for votes is now sympathising with the oppressed class.

Singh was quick to claim that the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made selfless efforts to revive the status of the poor in the country and crores of people are benefiting from the schemes launched by the government in the past five years. With Central and the State government working in tandem, the development spree has also blossomed in Silchar and the place will have massive commercial and strategic importance in the coming days, Singh maintained. He also joined a rally at Karimganj wherein BJP candidate Kripanath Mallah submitted his nomination papers amidst great enthusiasm.

Former Union Minister Kabindra Purakayastha, Minister of Forests Fisheries and Excise Parimal Suklabaidya and district BJP chief Kaushik Rai along with Silchar candidate Rajdip Roy also attended the media interaction.
