BJP slams Lal Thanhawla for skipping CMs meet

By Correspondent

AIZAWL, June 18 - Mizoram State BJP today rapped Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla for skipping the Chief Ministers conference convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for yet another time.

It is unfortunate that Lal Thanhawla did not attend the Chief Ministers conference chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on June 17. Had he attended the meeting, he would have the opportunity to give report on the recent monsoon related disasters in Mizoram which would have been of great help to the victims, Mizoram BJP president Prof JV Hluna said today.

The BJP president said that this shows Chief Ministers indifference towards the victims of disaster across the State. We are unfortunate to have such a Chief Minister whose sole interest is soliciting peoples votes with the help of NLUP (New Land Use Policy) and totally neglects the peoples sufferings, he said.

The BJP chief voiced grave concern over the poor condition of roads across the State and the frequent collapse of bridges. As the Mizoram Government is unwilling to own responsibility, it cannot be called government of the people, he said.

Hluna mentioned that the State BJP office-bearers had a meeting last Saturday on the recent monsoon disasters in Mizoram and decided to seek disaster relief fund from the Central Government.

He said that the bus accident in Lunglei district on June 5 that killed 11 persons coincided with the visit of BJP national secretary Ram Madhav that led to relief fund pouring in from the PMs office for the victims.
