BJP slams Govt over floods

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 29 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, on Monday slammed the Tarun Gogoi government for its failure to initiate rescue and rehabilitation process for the flood affected on a war footing.

Spokesperson of the party Bijan Mahajan said that the Chief Minister of Assam sounded very cheap with his statement that the Prime Minister visited Jammu & Kashmir but sent some junior ministers to Assam to examine the areas affected by flood.

Flood is a perennial problem for the State. Even after having sufficient funds the State government failed to take up measures to control flood, said Mahajan pointing out that the Congress government has miserably failed to respond to a natural calamity that resulted in the death toll going up.

Mahajan regretted that Gogoi is not keen on communicating with the Central government regarding the present crisis unlike his other counterparts. He said that the Centre will release more funds only when the State government presents a detailed report on the flood with specific demands.
