GUWAHATI, July 20 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, has slammed the ruling Congress for stooping down as low as to playing politics with the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Memorial.
Party spokesperson Pabitra Margherita alleged that the government failed to achieve even 30 percent work at the Memorial in the last four years. �Now the government has announced that it is going to complete the work in 100 days. People feel that in its bid to hurry, the government is going to compromise with the quality of the work,� said Margherita, adding that the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Memorial is dear to the people of Assam and the government should refrain from playing with the sentiments of the people.
The party, on the other hand, has called upon the government to make it public whether there would be some intellectual and cultural aspects to the Memorial and the present status if the Memorial had such provisions to it.
