BJP slams Cong-AIUDF alliance

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 4 - The BJP today came down heavily on the Congress for its poll tie-up with the AIUDF and warned the people against the conspiracy hatched to harm the State.

The tie-up with the AIUDF has brought to the fore the anti-Assam character of the Congress. To ensure the rights are protected, the indigenous people should take serious note of the alliance, the BJP said in a political resolution at State executive meeting of the party today.

Alleging that the Congress indulged in misrule, corruption, anti-Assamese activities during its tenure in the government, the BJP said there was a massive change in the States demography during that period, so much so that indigenous people were forced to flee from their lands following infiltration of immigrants.

The political resolution also outlined the developmental activities carried out by the BJP-led government in the last four and half years.

This was the first executive meeting of the newly constituted team.

The meeting, which blew the bugle for the upcoming Assembly elections, also announced an action plan for the next 100 days.

State unit president Ranjeet Dass said that 42 lakh party workers and local committees have begun the preparatory works for the upcoming polls. The Congress and AIUDF are two sides of the same coin. It is because of this alliance that the BJP will perform better in Upper Assam in 2021, he said.

Senor BJP leader and Union minister Smriti Irani also addressed the meeting through a virtual platform.

The executive meeting also passed separate resolutions on the COVID-19 pandemic and the floods.
