BJP SC Morcha discusses plans for 2021 election

JORHAT, Sept 27 - A meeting of BJP�s SC Morcha wing of Jorhat district was held at the party�s town mandal office at JB Road here today to discuss about the plans to be chalked out for the Assembly polls slated to be held in the early part of 2021.

The convenor of the media cell of Jorhat district BJP informed that the meeting held under the presidentship of the president of the Jorhat district unit of SC Morcha of the party, Ananta Das, was attended by the party�s State unit president, general secretary and vice-president of SC Morcha, Nabarun Medhi, Nilakanta Das and Subhash Das respectively.

The president of Jorhat district unit of BJP Kamakhya Mohan Das, SC Morcha in-charge for Jorhat Nirmal Hazarika and also Golaghat district BJP unit SC Morcha president Ranjit Das too attended the meeting.

Saikia said that the meeting, also attended by 120 workers of 12 mandal committees of the ruling party across the district, discussed at length about strategies to be chalked out to reach out to the voters for the Assembly elections slated early next year.

Out of four Assembly seats in Jorhat district, BJP and its alliance partner AGP in the 2016 polls, had wrested one seat each (Jorhat by BJP and Teok by AGP) from the Congress. Dergaon Assembly constituency, a part of which falls in Jorhat district and the other in Golaghat district, too was wrested from the Congress by AGP in the 2016 polls.

Jorhat is represented and is the hometown of incumbent Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami of BJP and Rajya Sabha BJP MP and former Jorhat LS MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, who too is from Jorhat.
