NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 23 - BJP MP from 14 Lakhimpur HPC Pradan Baruah retained his constituency in the 2019 polls by defeating his nearest rival Anil Borgohain of the Indian National Congress by a huge margin. Pradan Baruah got 7, 56,718 votes, while Congress candidate Anil Borgohain polled 4, 10,189 votes. The winning margin is 3, 46,529. In the three LAC segments of Lakhimpur district , Pradan Baruah received 76,658 votes in 111 Lakhimpur LAC, 72,099 votes in 110 Nowboicha LAC and 83,239 votes in 112 Dhakuwakhona LAC.
Immeditaely after the results, a huge procession was taken out by the BJP supporters in various places of the constituency. A section of supporters told this correspondent that the election was fought on the basis of development works carried out by the BJP, and therefore the party got full support from the voters. �Now, the BJP Government will launch more pro-poor schemes for the people,� they claimed.
