GUWAHATI, Jan 6 - The BJP today took objection to what it termed highly objectionable language used by some leaders of the ongoing anti-CAA movement against the government and members of the ruling party.
Addressing a press meet here, State BJP spokespersons Rupam Goswami and Subhas Dutta said that such comments are not acceptable in a democratic society and also go against the Assamese culture.
They alleged that the Congress and Left parties are spreading misinformation among the masses with a view to gaining political mileage.
Goswami said that Indian democracy is known for facilitating proliferation of different opinions and views.
He alleged that some leaders of the anti-CAA agitation, including AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi, have used objectionable language in public against the BJP government and added that such behaviour will set a wrong example to the younger generation of Assam.
Goswami accused various organisations of remaining silent on the issue of NRC.
The BJP is the only party which has shown commitment to fully implement the Assam Accord, said the BJP spokesperson.
