BJP releases manifesto for hill districts

By Correspondent

DIPHU, April 5 - BJP district committees of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous Hill district which constitutes the Diphu parliamentary constituency released a party manifesto in addition to the national committees manifesto of BJP today.

The cardinal points of the policy are implementation of Article 244(A) of the Indian Constitution, which is principally the proviso for creation of an Autonomous State encompassing the Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao autonomous Hill districts of Assam. This decades- old stipulation has remained the focal point of politics in the autonomous hill districts of Assam.

The party manifesto has promised to implement direct funding system to the Autonomous Councils from the NITI Ayog for streamlining the pace of development without meddling from the state government. The party has also promised to implement all the clauses of MoU (memorandum of Understanding) signed in 1995 and the MoS (memorandum of settlement) signed in 2011 at the earliest possible. The other points include enhancement of fund allocation to the autonomous councils on the line of special category states of northeast India, securing interstate and inter-district boundaries, employment generation through skill development, marketing network at the doorstep of farmers etc.

To realise all these demands, will need a competent representative at the Centre from the Hills, and we are confident that BJP will form the next government and our proficient MP candidate Horensing Bey will be able to push forward these demands at the Centre, Amarsing Tisso senior BJP leader of Karbi Anglong commented while speaking about the party manifesto.
