BJP refutes news on poll alliance with AGP

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 28 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh today clarified that the news circulating in a section of the electronic media regarding a possible alliance and seat adjustment with the AGP is not based on facts.

Party spokesperson Rupam Goswami appealed to the media not to circulate such news that easily creates confusion amongst the people. Goswami said that the saffron party will publicly announce when such an agreement is reached with the regional party.

It needs mention that though the AGP has decided to contest the forthcoming Assembly election on its own strength, the BJP is still hopeful of an alliance with the regional party.

The much speculated alliance failed on account of the two parties disagreeing on the issue of seat sharing. Though the AGP and BJP had explored the possibility of an alliance, it did not materialise because of the saffron partys firm stand not to leave more than 20 seats to the AGP.

The BJP is however keen to bring all regional and tribal parties together to resist the Congress and the AIUDF. BJP sources have been saying that the partys doors are still open to the AGP.

News not based on facts is damaging the image of the BJP. We call upon all BJP workers not to be misled by such news, said Goswami.
