BJP protests against Govt

TINSUKIA, Oct 14 - The Tinsukia district committee of the BJP on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner�s office complex here in protest against the alleged corruption and total failure to provide minimum facilities to the people of the State by the Tarun Gogoi-led State Government.

The BJP protesters came to the Deputy Commissioner�s office in a huge rally from the Court Tiniali. They raised slogans against the alleged �failure in all the spheres of development� and rued the deplorable condition of roads, health, agriculture, education, etc.

The BJP committee demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Governor through the Deputy Commissioner.

The dharna was attended by Dibrugarh MP Rameswar Teli, Doomdooma MLA Dilip Moran, BJP district president Bhaben Sharma and other office-bearers and workers of the district committee of the party.

Nagaon Correspondent adds: BJP activists took out a protest rally against the alleged corruption in the DRDA, Agriculture, Irrigation, Education, Health and Forest departments, in Nagaon on Tuesday. They shouted slogans against the State Government while marching through the main roads of the town.

The protesters also dispatched a memorandum to the Governor, demanding implementation of government schemes without considering party affiliation, halt to the distribution of mosquito nets and blankets from development funds, cleaning of the Kolong river and free medicines in government hospitals, etc.

State BJP leaders Queen Ojha, Santanu Pujari, Rupak Sharma, Promod Laskar and others took part in the agitation programme.
