BJP predicts fall of Ibobi Govt in Manipur polls

IMPHAL, Jan 1 � BJP National spokesperson Prakash Javadekar on Saturday said the forthcoming Assembly election slated for January 28 would be the turning point of a new Manipur. He said the poll would be a vote against misrule of the Ibobi-led Government.

The BJP national leader was speaking to the media here in the presence of MPP President Dr NImaichand Luwang, BJP State president Sh Shantikumar and BJP North East in-charge Chandrasekhar Rao.

�There�s broad understanding among the non-Congress parties. MPP has already said that they would be part of the National Democratic Alliance. We welcome it and have decided to work together in the election,� the BJP leader added. �Our aim is to defeat Congress and the misrule of the Ibobi Government to bring peace, development, integrity and good governance.�

He said, �Unless jobs are created and unless peace comes back nothing can move ahead�. On the employees strike on pay hike, he assured that a non-Congress Government will give full benefits of the 6th Pay Commission.

�The poll has to be peaceful. It should not be rigged. So, we are appealing to the non-Congress parties to defeat Congress for better coordination,� said the BJP leader.

Dr Nimaichand said that a meeting of all alliance parties will be held today to chalk out the seat sharing and name of the alliance. �It will be a historic election as this election is an opportunity to change the government,� he added.

The MPP president felt that this cannot cannot be done alone. No party can do it alone. So we want to take all parties including BJP and CPI with us to beat the Congress this time, he added. MPP has already forged a pre-poll alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party, Janata Dal (U), Rashtriya Janata Party and Communist Party of India (Marxist).

PTI adds:Manipur unit of the BJP today joined hands with the main regional political party MPP to fight the forthcoming Assembly polls.

A spokesman of the MPP said his party has joined hands with the BJP to defeat the Congress-led Government.

Javedkar and Chanderasekhar Rao, said, it was now time to bring down the �corrupt� government of Congress-led Secular Progressive Front Ministry in the State.

�The BJP Manipur unit and MPP desired to work together and fight the Congress Government to bring a government which would devote to the development, welfare and communal integrity of the State,� said Javedkar.
