ITANAGAR, March 24 - BJP MLA Balo Raja, who represents the Palin constituency in Kra Daadi district, has donated his one months salary towards preventing the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. His contribution amounting to Rs 1.20 lakh was received by Kra Daadi District Medical Officer, Dr Higio Tama, on behalf of the district administration. Meanwhile, the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner S Miji lauded the initiative by the local MLA.

The Shungkuh Women Welfare Society, Pongchau, in Longding district has also donated Rs 2 lakh to assist the Longding district administration in its fight against COVID-19.

The amount was handed over to Pongchau Circle Officer Nyarik Diyum by Society chairperson Ngunkhaw Ngandam during an awareness campaign on COVID-19 held at Pongchau on Tuesday.

DC Cheshta Yadav, while appreciating the noble gesture shown by the Shungkuh Women Welfare Society, said, I am thankful to the Society led by its chairperson Ngandam for the contribution.

The DC, however, requested the womens body, elite sections of society, students and youths to cooperate with the administration in reaching out to all corners of the district with the message to contain the pandemic at its initial stage.

The DC opined that youths who are active in the social media could disseminate more awareness among villagers and urged that the villagers should be encouraged for home stay and social distancing, besides following all other restrictions laid down by the Government and the district administration.

Along with several other States, Arunachal Pradesh has been under lockdown from Monday to check the spread of COVID-19.
