BJP making hollow promises, claims Gogoi

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 8 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will pay the price of making hollow promises in the ensuing polls, which begins in the State from April 4.

Gogoi said that the tide is in favour of the Congress and it will exterminate the very existence of the saffron party in Assam.

People in Assam were misled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. That was a temporary wave. However, people are not going to fall prey to false promises this time, Gogoi said during the joining ceremony organised at the Rajiv Bhawan here where a number of leaders, including two sitting MLAs from the AIUDF formally joined the party.

Referring to senior leaders from other parties joining the Congress, Gogoi said, This goes to show that the wave is in favour of the Congress.

After winning the polls, Modi should have spent more time with the voters. But contrary to that, he is spending time in foreign countries. He has betrayed the common people. It is difficult to draw a parallel between their promises and works, Gogoi said.

He also said that the Centre has deprived the State of its due, which is hampering the developmental works and welfare of the people in general.

He further reiterated that the AIUDF has a secret understanding with the BJP and also slammed the RSS for affecting the social fabric of the country.
