BJP leaders demand party candidate in Barama

Tihu, March 6: As the dates for the ensuing Assembly election are coming closer, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and the supporters of 62 no Barama (reserved) constituency have appealed the central leadership to field BJP candidates at Barama LAC in the upcoming Assembly polls.

Addressing a press meet at Barama, Ram Dahel, President of Baksa district BJP committee said that a large number of saffron party supporters in the three LACs namely Barama, Tamulpur and Chapaguri constituencies are seeking BJP candidates where there is every possibility of winning these seats this year as most of the people of those areas are in favour of BJP.

The leaders also have demanded not to leave the seats to other alliance party. On the other hand, particularly in Barama LAC, the party workers are waiting for new faces like ticket aspirants Kumud Das, Executive Member of State Committee and Rekharani Das Baro, former AGP minister and now, Vice President of state BJP as the constituency was under the grip of Bodoland People's Front (BPF) for the last three consecutive times and also the two BJP aspirants have expressed their willingness to contest in the ensuing election from Barama.

The voting in Barama LAC is slated to be held on April 6 in the third phase of the State Assembly elections.
