BJP keeps door open for alliance with Tripura parties

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, March 15 - While keeping the door open for electoral understanding with regional tribal-based political parties in Tripura, BJP general secretary P Murlidhar Rao has stated that the party has decided to strengthen its organisation at the grass root level rather than depending on other forces.

Rao, who was here recently, said the party considers Tripura as strategic as it goes to Assembly elections early next year.

The BJP wants to strengthen its organisation where it is not in power right now. And, Tripura, of course is considered an important State where organisation needs to be boosted keeping in mind the next years elections, he said, adding that in the four-day programme, leaders and supporters vowed to work hard to make the party a strong political force in the Marxist-ruled State.

Rao alleged the CPM and the government have become inseparable in the Marxist regime. The government is acting at the behest of the party headquarters which is not a healthy sign for democracy, he said.

It seems the government is a stumbling block to various Central Government sponsored schemes, be it SBM or MGNREGA. The State is receiving awards by manipulating facts and figures, he alleged.

Partys State unit president Biplab Kumar Deb said he had personally briefed Union Home Minister about the chit fund scam in Tripura apart from other things. The CBI will arrive here to dig the money trail which originated in Kolkata and many big fishes will be in trouble very shortly, he added.
