BJP-IPFT differences persist

By CORRESPONDENT

AGARTALA, March 19 - The ongoing tussle between the BJP and its State ally, IPFT, over seat adjustment continues as an emergent meeting among leaders of the two parties remained inconclusive.

In the meeting held on Monday night at Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varmas official residence, IPFT leaders NC Debbarma and Ananta Debbarma reiterated their demand for the East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency.

However, the Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who represented the BJP, could not give any commitment to the IPFT demand. They only said the party would look into the matter.

Meanwhile, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav is scheduled to arrive here on March 24 to address an election rally. He will also meet the IPFT leaders to sort out differences on the seat sharing deal.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma will also address an election rally in support of the partys nominee for the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency.
