BJP going against NE interests: Cong

By Staff Correspondent

SHILLONG, June 21 - The Congress today asked regional parties to walk out of the BJP-constituted North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) as the saffron party is allegedly working against the interests of the people of the North East.

The AICC in-charge of North Eastern States, Luizinho Faleiro, urged the regional parties here today that they should not eye short-term benefits by siding with the BJP.

The chairman of the NEDA is Amit Shah and everybody knows they brought in the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. They removed the Special Category status of the North East States and also abolished the Planning Commission, Faleiro said.

He said that by siding with the BJP and the NEDA, the regional parties are going against the interests of the people in the region. The BJP has demonstrated through its action, whether it is the Citizenship Bill or the PRC issue in Arunachal Pradesh, most policies are against the interests of the people in this region, Faleiro added.
