AGARTALA, Jan 23 - Even as final bugle for general election is yet to be sounded, the State BJP has geared up to win both the Lok Sabha constituencies in Tripura.
Partys central leadership has already appointed Avinash Rai Khanna as the States prabhari for the two Lok Sabha constituencies to handle the partys election preparations. Interestingly, BJP national secretary Sunil Deodhar, who had steered the BJP to the partys stunning victory in the Assembly election, has not been given any assignment in Tripura.
Khanna, who has already visited the State, had a meeting with partys core committee at the party headquarters here on Monday. In the meeting, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb briefed Khanna on the partys organisational activities and prevailing political situation in the State.
Khanna asked the core committee to reach out to the people well before the Lok Sabha elections. The partys rank and file must implement the six- point programme as prescribed by partys national president Amit Shah during his last visit to the State, he said.
During the out-reach programmes, the leaders and party karyakartas must highlight the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led government during the past five years, he told the leaders.
However, there was no discussion on the party nominees for the two Lok Sabha constituencies.
Khanna, who left the State on Tuesday, did not have any meeting with the leaders of Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT), an ally of the coalition government.
