BJP gears up for 2016 Assembly polls

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 19 The two-day State executive body meeting (extended) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh concluded today with Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan giving the clarion call to all party workers to gear up for the 2016 Assembly election.

Addressing the meet, the Union Minister asserted that the writing on the wall is very clear and that the saffron party will come to power in 2016 with a simple majority.

What we need to do now is to reach out to the people and highlight the good governance provided by Narendra Modi in the last one year and the failure of the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government in the State, said Pradhan.

During the deliberation, two resolutions were passed.

The first resolution is a scathing attack on the Congress, highlighting the failure of that party in all respects.

The meet concluded that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is covering up the failure of his government by making false statements and creating an environment of doubt. Gogoi had said a year back that the Modi wave would not in any way have an impact on Assam, but now he is convinced that he will lose power and so he is trying to divert peoples attention by making false statements against the Central government, informed Shiladitya Dev, spokesperson of the party.

The meet also lambasted the Tarun Gogoi government for its failure to submit utilization certificate of about Rs 13,000 crore.
