BJP gearing up for Tripura polls

AGARTALA, Dec 26 - Assam�s Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accompanied by 25 ministers and MLAs will be arriving here�on Wednesday�to boost BJP�s campaign for next Assembly elections.

On the first day, he would supervise protest march to be carried out by the party state unit. Sarma, who is also in-charge of the BJP�s election campaign in the Marxist-ruled state, is scheduled to address a rally in a place which falls under Chief Minister Manik Sarkar�s home turf- Dhanpur in Sepahijala district.

Meanwhile, the BJP has planned to hold rallies at various places to mobilise party leaders and activists. �We are hopeful of gathering over two lakh people in the proposed rallies scheduled to begin from�Wednesday�, said party state president Biplab Deb here.

Ministers and MLAs from the north-eastern states will address all the rallies to garner people�s support before the Assembly elections slated for early next year.

Besides joining party programmes, Sarma who was instrumental in blooming lotus in most of the north-eastern states, is likely to face a stiff challenge from the Left.
