BJP for early implementation of Central schemes

DIPHU, Sept 10 � The BJP, Karbi Anglong District unit staged a dharna today in front of the office of the Assistant Revenue Officer at Phuloni demanding immediate and adequate implementation of all Central Government schemes in Karbi Anglong.

Hundreds of BJP workers and supporters took part in the dharna. Addressing the gathering, retired IAS officer Lanki Phancho explained the reasons for non-cooperation by the State government in all Central development schemes.

Phancho alleged that mal-practices in Centrally-sponsored development schemes were on the raise in the State as well as in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.

Pointing out the non-completion of development schemes formulated by the Central Government, the retired IAS officer and BJP leader admitted that Karbi Anglong district did get crores of rupees every year from the Central Government under different heads and schemes, but those funds were utilised properly.

The BJP leader also alleged improper and tardy implementation of works, schemes or projects of the national highway link road from Manja to Lumding via Diphu town, the Siloni hydro-electric project, Diphu greater water supply schemes, construction of stadium under the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Diphu, hawkers� and vendors� commercial building, construction of the raod from Silonijan to Chowkihola under NLCPR, schemes under NLCPR, AIBP, IAY, PMGSY, NREGA, four-lane highway from Lumding to Silchar, construction of broad gauge line from Lumding Railway Station to Silchar Railway Station etc.

The retired IAS officer also strongly criticised the authorities concerned for their alleged partiality in issuing ration cards under the National Food Security Act. He decried the delay in solving permanently the State�s border problems with Nagaland and Meghalay.

Bharat Timung, ex-EM, KAAC and spokesman of BJP Karbi Anglong District Committee also addressed the party workers and explained the misgovernance during the Congress tenure.

A memorandum was also sent to President Pranab Mukherjee through the ARO, Phuloni in presence of the District Magistrate, Diphu.
