By Correspondent

AIZAWL, Sept 21 - Mizoram unit of BJP today slammed the appointment of ruling Congress MLA Lalrinmawia Ralte as political adviser to the Chief Minister.

The BJP stated that the appointment of MLA as political adviser to the CM attracts office of profit disqualification under Article 191(1) (a) of the Indian Constitution.

In a memorandum submitted to State Governor today, the BJP demanded that Ralte be disqualified as MLA. Copy of the memorandum was sent to BJP national president Amit Shah, and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The BJP threatened to launch a protest unless the MLA is disqualified.

The BJP recalled that Sonia Gandhi had resigned as MP for holding the chairman post of National Advisory Council. Jaya Bachhan, Bajrang Balinder Singh and Uma Shanker Singh, all Congress MPs, too had resigned over office of profit issue, the BJP pointed out. In Mizoram, Minister of State Lal Thanzara too had resigned due to the office of profit, it added.

Ralte, who had resigned as Labour Minister over the controversy of sending of Mizoram students to alleged fake institution in Kolkata earlier this year, was on Tuesday appointed as political adviser to CM Lal Thanhawla, and was given the rank of a Minister of State.
