GUWAHATI, Sept 18 - The State BJP today expelled Benajir Afreen from the primary membership of the party.
Party sources said that Afreen was taking a stand on the Rohinya issue contrary to the official stand of the party. She was expelled following a recommendation of the State Disciplinary Committee of the party comprising Manoj Ram Phukan, RP Sharma, Shantanu Bharali, BK Mahajan and Siddhartha Bhattacharjee.
After a threadbare discussion on the allegations against Afreen, the disciplinary committee felt that her continuation in the party would cause a lot of damage to the party, sources said.
