BARPETA, Oct 13 - The slogan of Jati-Mati-Bheti uttered by the BJP is a farce and the party is engaged in anti-Assamese activities now. This was stated by Pabindra Deka, senior leader of the Asom Gana Parishad and MLA of Patacharkuchi constituency in Barpeta district.
Talking to this correspondent, Deka termed the proposal adopted in the State executive committee meeting of the BJP in favour of the proposed Citizenship Ammendment Bill as contradictory to its declared principle during electioneering in 2016. The proposal is unfortunate which the people of Assam did not expect at all, Deka said and added that though the issue was raised and supported by the party at the national-level, the staunch support from the Assam state unit was not at all expected.
Regarding his partys stand on the proposed amendment bill vis-a-vis the proposal of the State unit of the BJP, Deka known for his strong opposition to the bill said that the leadership of the party has made its stand clear. However, he would request the president and other party leaders to call an executive committee meeting to discus the issue, he added.
