GUWAHATI, June 22 � The Sports Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party Assam Pradesh organised a discussion on the scenario of Assam sports, billed-Khel Sambad, at its State office here today.
The vice president of the BJP State body Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Sports Cell co-ordinator Basav Lal Pathak and other party members were present on the occasion where a good number of sportspersons, coach, organisers, mediapersons were present.
Speakers of various disciplines highlighted about difficulties in providing facilities to their trainees. Representatives of the disciplines like football, athletics, cricket, chess, rowing, judo, swimming etc were present and most of them have revealed that poor infrastructure is the root cause for which sports is not developing in the State.
The speakers also urged the new Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to uplift the basic sports facilities in the State so that talents can be tapped at the grass-root level and nurture them properly.
