BJP demands Ajmal arrest

By Bureau

DIBRUGARH, Aug 24 The BJP today reiterated its demand for the immediate arrest of AIUDF MP Badaruddin Ajmal, accusing him of being largely responsible for fomenting trouble in Assam and in Mumbai. Raising this demand here today, BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal told local news persons at a press conference that the State Government is trying to lend a different colour to the recent unrest in the BTAD areas by arresting BPF MLA Pradip Kumar Brahma.

Sonowal said the recent unrest in the BTAD areas of Assam is a culmination of a demographic challenge posed by unabated influx of Bangladeshis into the State. According to the BJP, the Bodos have been demographically overwhelmed by illegal Bangladeshis in the Bodo dominated areas. The BJP claims that the Congress, which sees electoral advantage in illegal influx from Bangladesh, has not taken the large scale ingression seriously.

According to Sonowal, the non-completion of the Indo-Bangla barbed wire fencing in the Assam areas in 27 years since the Assam Accord is also a Congress ploy to encourage illegal influx of Bangladeshis into Assam.
