GUWAHATI, Oct 25 - The State BJP has taken exception to the anchor of a national news channel�s claim that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has six children. The video of the newslink had gone viral in the social media.
In a statement, State BJP media relations department head Dewan Dhrubajyoti Maral condemned the incident and said that it is unfortunate that a national news channel has made such a claim without verifying the facts.
�We call upon everybody not to publish or broadcast such distasteful and �fake news�,� he said, calling upon the news channel concerned to issue an apology.
It is noteworthy that the news anchor of the channel, while reporting the news of the two-child norm for government jobs in Assam which was announced recently by the State Cabinet, had claimed that Sonowal himself has six children.
The anchor, in a social media post, had later apologised for the comment.
