BJP chief slams Cong for pact with AIUDF

By Staff Correspondent

JORHAT, March 28 - BJP president Amit Shah today slammed former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and the Congress party for hobnobbing with AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal to get his (Gogois) son Gaurav Gogoi re-elected from the Kaliabor parliamentary constituency. Shah took the former three-time Chief Minister to task for coming to an understanding informally with Ajmal to get his partys support to ensure win of Gaurav while addressing a BJP poll rally at the Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology Ground near here late afternoon.

The venue is under Teok Assembly seat within the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency from which the Minister of State for Power (Independent charge) Topon Kumar Gogoi, has been fielded by the saffron party.

Shah said that the former Chief Minister seeking Ajmals support to get his son re-elected shows the true colours of the Congress party.

Alleging that Gogois Who is Badruddin remark on the eve of 2006 Assembly polls, was just a gimmick, the BJP chief said that during day time Gogoi and Ajmal shows themselves as opponents, but during night they come closer.

He claimed that the Narendra Modi-led Government at the Centre and the Sarbananda Sonowal-led Government in Assam has been taking a strong policy and measures to prevent infiltrators from Bangladesh entering the State.

Coming down heavily on the Congress party for failing to usher in development and progress across the country, Shah said that the north-eastern region in general and Assam in particular, was neglected by successive Congress governments at the Centre and in the State.

Pointing out a series of welfare schemes and projects launched by the BJP-led Central Government, Shah said that altogether 133 schemes were initiated by the Modi-led Government.

A PTI report from Kaliabor adds: Addressing a rally in Kaliabor, Shah accused the previous Congress government of settling illegal immigrants in the state, as he applauded the Narendra Modi government for securing the countrys frontiers and avenging Indian soldiers killed by Pakistan-backed terror groups.

He said only Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP can ensure security of the country and not the Congress or its president Rahul Gandhi.

In his five years in office, Modi brought in a lot of development. But most of all he ensured the security of the country and its borders. Under his leadership, India avenged the blood of our soldiers killed in Uri and Pulwama attacks by Pakistan-based terror elements, Shah said.

The BJP president claimed the way the world viewed India underwent a drastic change under Modi.

Shah insisted that India under Modi was only the third nation after the US and Israel to take swift revenge for the spilling of their soldiers blood by enemies.

Shah alleged the Congress government under Tarun Gogoi settled illegal immigrants inside the Kaziranga National Park and 16th century Vaishnavite monasteries in Assam.

It was Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarmas BJP government which dared to evict all the immigrants out of Kaziranga. Rhinos were being killed. Now the BJP government here has sent the poachers to jail. No one dared to do that earlier, he asserted and claimed 200 acres of land occupied by infiltrators were recovered.
