DIPHU, July 9 - The BJP-ruled Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) observed its one year completion in office in a gala manner at the Secretariat of the council in the presence of all the three MLAs, Sum Ronghang, Minister of Hill Areas Development department etc., Chief Executive Member of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, Executive Members, Members of Autonomous Council and the thousands of government employees serving under the administrative jurisdiction of council. The programme showcased the pace of development and the growth ratio which it achieved within a single year, that too chiefly in the rural areas.
Sum Ronghang, State HAD Minister, while taking part as the chief guest in the function, said though budget allocation is made by the State government, but the action plan for development is prepared by the KAAC. He asked the KAAC to utilise the funds allotted by the State government for proper development.
Ronghang further said that funds under the Welfare of Plain Tribes & Backward Classes (WPTBC), Government of Assam have been stopped as per a decision taken by the government last February. The HAD should be named either �HTAD� or �TAD� as the HAD department is getting less funds for hill area development, Ronghang said.
Meanwhile, he appreciated KAAC CEM, Ronghang and his team for ensuring fast pace of development in the district and the same spirit of work culture should be continued in future. The HAD MInister also reminded the KAAC as well as officials and employees of the 30 departments entrusted to the KAAC to be sincere in their work for the welfare of the people.
Ronghang spoke about the previous parties� misrule and ill governance and said that the report card of one year�s achievement on communication, housing, healthcare, sports, education, irrigation, livelihood, water, agriculture, forest and environment, tourism, veterinary, social welfare, art and culture etc., speaks volume about the principles of BJP which believes in growth for every individual.
�The day when Team Karbi Anglong under my guidance took up the mission of total transformation of Karbi Anglong as a developed and advanced region of the nation, many eyebrows were raised and it was hard for them to believe that the foundation stone of various projects laid will become visible. Will the mega projects actually show up? Now see with your own eyes � maximum targets have been achieved and hundreds are on the anvil. I promise that if I continue to receive your support and the support of the Assam and the Central governments, Karbi Anglong will be a developed place within a very short time,� Ronghang said.
In the meeting, no spokesman of the BJP or any public leader categorically mentioned about any physical achievement. Instead, they left the issue to the public to judge from its report card which was presented through booklets and documented government reports. Several third and fourth grade employees of the council were also warmly felicitated for their dedicated service.
