BJP call to foil divisive agenda

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 28 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh, today appealed to all the indigenous people of the State to remain united and thwart all divisive and nefarious designs of the AIUDF and the Congress.

Spokesperson of the party Jiten Sarma said that both the AIUDF and the ruling Congress in the State have tried to divide the people on communal lines to gain cheap political mileage.

The AIUDF was floated to divide people on religious lines, and, over the years, this agenda of the party has become more and more transparent. It has established itself as a communal party by calling upon on all the Muslims of Assam to get together to resist the BJP, said Sarma, mentioning that the AIUDF was formed with the objective of converting Assam into a Muslim State.

The BJP spokesperson stated that even Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has been playing the communal card for political gain. Strongly criticising the Congress, he said that Gogoi has been making controversial remarks to create distrust among the indigenous communities of the State.

Under the prevailing situation, when the AIUDF and the Congress are making efforts to divide and mislead the people, we urge the citizens to maintain the age-old amity and unity in the interest of a progressive Assam, he said, reiterating that the indigenous people should transcend the boundaries of caste, creed, community and language and unite to bring that party in power which will ensure accountability and transparency in governance.
