TURA, March 30 - Thomas Marak, the BJP candidate from Songsak, in the last Assembly polls, has resigned from the party citing the political situation in Garo Hills.
Thomas resigned from the post of general secretary ship of BJP unit in East Garo Hills as well as primary membership of the party. He was joined in the resignation by members of Songsak Mandal committee. This includes the president, general secretary along with other office bearers, leading to the dissolution of all committees under the BJP in Songsak.
Thomas was earlier seen supporting the candidature of the INC candidate Dr Mukul Sangma, along with a host of other leaders from Garo Hills.
