GUWAHATI, Sept 29 - The BJP today released the names of its nominees for the bypolls to four assembly seats in the State slated for October 21.
The central election committee of the ruling party has fielded Bijay Malakar from Ratabari constituency and Towfiqur Rahman from Jania constituency. BJP�s Kripanath Mallah vacated the Ratabari seat after being elected as an MP. Jania was represented in the Assembly by Abdul Khaleque of Congress who was also elected as an Lok Sabha MP.
Former Congress MLA Rajen Borthakur, who later joined the BJP, has been nominated from Rangapara constituency which fell vacant after Pallab Lochan Das was elected as an MP.
For Sonari constituency, the BJP has fielded Nabanita Handique. Sonari was represented by Topon Kumar Gogoi who was elected as the Lok Sabha MP from Jorhat constituency in the last general elections.
Bypolls to the four seats will be held on October 21 and counting of votes will be taken up on October 24. The last date for filing of nomination by candidates is September 30.
