BJP-AGP-BPF alliance will win at least 12 seats in State: Sonowal

BARPETA, March 24 - The BJP-AGP-BPF alliance will win minimum of 12 parliamentary seats out of the 14 in the State, claimed Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal here today.

Speaking to reporters on his visit to Barpeta to address a party workers meet, Sonowal said that Congress party has lost its base in the State and the people of the State has comprehended the real intention of the party as well as the AIUDF. He ridiculed the Congress for its reported move to forge an alliance with the Ajmal-led party.

Sonowal was confident in his statement that in the interest of all-round development of the State, the people will vote for the BJP and provide Narendra Modi an opportunity to serve as the Prime Minister for another term. He opined that the reported understanding between the Congress and the AIUDF cannot harm the BJP-led alliance at all as the base of both the parties is nearing extinction by now. The Chief Minister claimed that the people of the State have been convinced that the government has been able to work for the development of all the people equally and has also been respected well during the last two years and ten months tenure and the pace of development will continue further. Besides, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure has worked with dedication and has been able to spread a wind of change in the whole country for the welfare of all, for which the people will remember him for ever. Changes in north- eastern region in respect of communication, transport, industry, health and education during the last five years is unprecedented for which people will be grateful to Modi.

The Chief Minister opined that to accelerate the pace of development in the future, a prime minister like Modi is very much essential for the people of the NE region and he has observed that the electors in this region have decided positively in this regard. The people of the State irrespective of geographical region, caste, creed and religion have embraced the ideology of the incumbent governments both at the Centre and the State and it is surely to extend till the election which will make the BJP led alliance successful in the parliamentary election.

Addressing mediapersons, Ranjit Kumar Dass, president of the state unit of the BJP termed the proposed understanding between Congress and AIUDF as unholy which is based on personal interest rather than party or the State. He asked the people to defeat the Congress candidates in Kaliabor, Diphu and Silchar.

Both the leaders addressed party office bearers and leaders of the district committees of Barpeta, Nalbari and Bongaigaon districts and discussed about the strategies to be adopted in the Lok Sabha poll.
