BISWANATH CHARIALI, March 15 - The Biswanath district administration is gearing up for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held on April 4 in the three Legislative Assembly Constituencies in the district namely 76-Biswanath, 77-Behali and 78-Gohpur.
Elections will be held in 189 polling stations in Biswanath, 145 polling stations in Behali and 224 polling stations in Gohpur. This was announced by Pallav Gopal Jha, Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath and Sanjay Dutta, ADC and SDO (C) in-charge, Gohpur subdivision in press conferences at Biswanath Chariali and Gohpur, respectively.
In Biswanath, total numbers of hyper sensitive polling stations are 58, 83 are sensitive, 90 are critical and vulnerable villages are 90. In Behali, 32 polling stations have been identified as hyper sensitive, 38 as sensitive, critical as 12 and 12 as vulnerable villages.
In Gohpur, three polling stations have been identified as hyper sensitive, while 19 polling stations were identified as sensitive.
On the other hand, in total, 1,39,974 voters will exercise their franchise in Biswanath, 1,06,864 in Behali and 1,70,746 in Gohpur. Web casting system will be applied in 10 polling stations each in all the three constituencies.
The training for polling personnel commenced on March 13 at various places in the district, including Biswanath College, Satsanga High School, Borgang High School, Gohpur HS School and Nehru HS School.
The administration has appealed to everybody concerned to follow the Model Code of Conduct until the poll process is over. ADC Parvej Amin, Revenue Circle Officer Sanjiv Dalai, EAC Mridusmita Borah, SDPO, Gohpur Pradip Konwar, SDIPRO, Biswanath Rajendra Baruah etc., were also present in the press meet.
