GUWAHATI, April 10 � Making a tremendous fightback, Biswanath Chariali turned tables on Barpeta in the final of the Plate Group Senior Inter District Cricket Championship for the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy.

On the third day of the four-day summit clash at the Nehru Stadium here today, Biswanath Chariali prevailed obver Barpeta by eight wickets.

Despite concding a 108-run first innings lead spirited Biswanath boys displayed a great all round show in the second innings and changed the complexion of the match.

In reply to Barpeta�s first innings total of 310 on Monday, Biswanath were all out for 202 yesterday. In the second innings this morning Biswanath bowlers found their perfect line and lengthwhich put them in drivers seat as Barpeta were all out for 84 in their second knock. Requiring 193 for an outright victory Biswanath batsmen shwoed the required determination and reached the target in 53.5 overs losing just two wickets.

Ramakant Singh remained unbeaten on 97 while opener Manjit Barkatakee added valuable 52.

Earlier, tailender Rahul Kaushik scored 55 which saved Biswanath Chariali from following on. Rahul again came good with the ball in Barpeta�s second innings with a four-wicket haul which virtually laid the winning foundation for Biswanath. Rahul was adjudged man-of-the-final for his match winning all round show.

Barpeta boys also took it casually after the commendable first innings lead and dug their own graveyaed.

However, credit should be given to Biswanath batsmen as they made a successful chase of a tough target in the fourth innings. Ramakant stayed at the crease for 198 minutes and faced 144 deliveries. His match winning knock was studded with 6 boundaries and a six.

In the closing function, Assam Cricket Association secretary Bikash Baruah, assistant secretary Sanjib Handique, GB members Pradip Bora, Sujit Choudhury, GSA general secretary Ibicha Sing were present as guests and they gave away the prizes to teams and individuals.

Bhaskar P Bora and Niranjan Das were the umpires while Naba Sarma was the official scorer of the final.
