Biswajit Ray gives up AKRSU leadership

By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, Jan 9 - Biswajit Ray formally gave up the president post of All Koch-Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) just before the groups delegates session at its head office here on Friday afternoon.

The students group has been celebrating martyrs day centrally at the office from Friday. The wings of the student group Koch-Rajbongshi Mahila Samiti and Chilarai Sena also joined the delegates session to form the new executive bodies along with the AKRSU.

Ray got the leadership of Koch-Rajbongshi Mahasabha, which was formed on Friday, as the general secretary before leaving his president post of the students body.

Ray has not decided yet to join the mainstream politics as the political parties in the State are busy in mutual bickering and backbiting one another other, brushing aside the important issues relating to the common people of the State.

Ray had termed BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary as Lalu Prasad of Assam for his habit of speaking ill of his rivals and slammed him for his involvement in various corrupt deals in the BTC, when he and his party had enjoyed the patronage of the ruling Congress government in the State in the past eight years.

Mohilary, on Friday at a meeting in Chirang district headquarters Kajalgaon, criticized Biswajit Ray as an agent of Congress party in the context of the 48-hour Assam bandh called by Koch-Rajbongshi United Forum on January 18 to protest Prime Minister Narendra Modis Kokrajhar visit on January 19.

Ray said that his Mahasabha would carry forward the demands of his community taking all their groups together.

I believe my age, which is 40 plus, does not suit any post of a student group, so I have decided to leave the post and to hand over it to other members of the group, Ray said, adding that he would continue working for his community like before.
