GUWAHATI, June 18 - Sculptor Dr Janak Jhankar Narzary and dance exponent Guneswar Bhuyan have been chosen for the Bishnu Rabha Award, 2018.
The award will be presented to the artistes at the central Rabha Divas function to be held at Sonapur Mini Stadium near here on June 20. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will honour the duo, a press release from the Directorate of Cultural Affairs said.
Dr Narzary, a former Head of the Department of History of Art at Visva Bharati University of Santiniketan, has earned critical acclaim as a sculptor through his exhibitions in India and abroad, including Italy, Germany, Turkey, South Korea, Mexico, Thailand, etc. He has also represented India at a number of cultural seminars abroad.
