Birth centenary of Ranima Gaidinliu

HAFLONG, Jan 25 � �If North East India is not developed, then India will not progress� said the Governor of Assam, Nagaland and Tripura PB Acharya while inaugurating the birth centenary celebration of freedom fighter Ranima Gaidinliu-cum-the 36th general conference of Zeliangrong Heraka Association, North East India at Mpuilo (Boro Haflong ) near Haflong on Saturday.

While addressing the huge gathering, Governor Acharya appreciated the endeavour of the Zeliangrong Heraka Association, North East India for the preservation of indigenous faith and culture and which was initiated by Haipo Jadonang and Ranima. He also stressed three E�s i.e education, electricity and empowerment for the all-round development of the society.

Earlier, the Governor was felicitated traditionally by the president of Zeliangrong Heraka Association, North East India Ramkuiwangbe Newme along with other dignitaries including Dilip Paul, MLA, Barun Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner and leaders from the VHP and RSS.

Among others, MLA Dilip Paul, DC Barun Bhuiyan also spoke on the occasion while Ramkuiwangbe Newme, president, Zeliangrong Heraka Association, North East India in his welcome address disclosed Ranima Gaidinliu�s contribution in social and religious reforms in their society highlighting her freedom struggle against the British.

The Governor also released one souvenir The Flame of Fire and a booklet Rani PUI Gaudinliu Rasam written by Ramkuiwangbe Newme.

Several organisations including some political ones submitted memoranda to the Governor with prayer for his intervention.
