Birth anniversary of Netaji observed

HAFLONG, Jan 23 - The 119th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was observed throughout the district of Dima Hasao on Saturday in a befitting manner.

At Haflong, the Nikhil Bharatiya Banga Sahitya Sanmelan organised a motor rally with the portrait of Netaji which started from Boat House.

Several speakers dwelt at length on the life of Netaji along with his sacrifice for the nation. They appealed to the young generation to follow the ideals of Netaji.

Kokrajhar: Along with the rest of the country, the birth anniversary of Netaji was celebrated here by various organisations.

The Kokrajhar Station Road Welfare Society launched a project titled �Clean and Beautiful Kokrajhar�. It started with the hoisting of flag by Doneswar Goyari, EM, BTC and was followed by floral tribute by Rajib Brahma, EM, BTC. Madhab Prasad Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar also attended the programme along with the chairman of Kokrajhar Municipality Board, Bishnu Narzary.

The All Assam Bengali Youth Students� Federation Kokrajhar district committee celebrated the daylong programme on the Magurmari Binapani LP School premises. An open session was also held on the occasion where Rajib Brahma, EM, BTC attended as the chief guest.

The All BTAD Bengali Youth Students� Federation (ABBYSF) Kokrajhar district committee also celebrated the day at the DN Himatsingka School playground. A bike rally, an open art competition, blood donation camp, etc., marked the day.

Tinsukia: Along with the rest of the nation, the 119th birth anniversary of Netaji was celebrated today by the Banglabhashi Yuba Chatra Parishad.

To mark the occasion a huge cultural rally was taken out from Durgabari to the statue of Netaji at Tinkonia through the main streets of the town. Besides paying tributes, a public meeting was held where the speakers highlighted about the patriotism of Netaji.

The organisers also felicitated freedom fighter Lila Bora on the occasion. The Tinsukia unit of the RSS also organised a procession in the town.

Chabua: Dr Ranjit Singha, HoD of Political Science of Dibru College, Dibrugarh highlighted on Netaji�s life while attending as the chief guest at a function at Vastrahara Vidyalaya here today. He also appealed to the All Assam Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation (AABYCF) to demand a chair in the name of Netaji at Dibrugarh University.

The open meeting was presided over by Dr Debasish Bose, professor of DDR College, Chabua. In the meeting, Jagadanandu Chakraborty, Kamal Chakraborty and Sivasish Bhattacharjee attended as guests of honour.

Earlier, Gopal Rai, president of AABYCF hoisted the flag. Ramakrishna Chakraborty offered the floral tributes.
