GUWAHATI,�Sept 3�� Lokabandhu Day, the birth anniversary of Dr Bhubaneswar Borooah will be celebrated with a daylong programme at the B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) tomorrow.
On the occasion, a public meeting will be held in the auditorium of the institute, where Dhirendra Nath Baruah, founder member of the B Borooah Cancer Society, Jatin Hazarika, member of the management council and Dr MM Deka, former principal of the Gauhati Medical College and visiting radiotherapist of the institute in its formative years, will be felicitated in recognition to their valuable contributions towards the development of the institute.
The programme will start in the morning with floral tributes Dr Bhubaneswar Borooah by the director, BBCI Dr AC Kataki, Dr R Begum, chairman, organising committee, and all the employees of the institute. A street drama and a procession will be organised to create awareness in public about cancer. On the occasion, sweets will be distributed to the indoor patients and a friendly football match will also be held.
