Birth anniv of doyen of library science

GUWAHATI, Aug 10 - The Assam College Librarians� Association (ACLA) is going to celebrate the 129th birth anniversary of Dr Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan, the doyen of library science in India, on August 12 in a befitting manner.

Considering the present pandemic environment, the programme will be celebrated through online platform (ZOOM) and will start at 1 pm.

The programme will be attended by Prof (retd) Narendra Lahkar, a former faculty of Department of Library Science, Gauhati University and president of Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centre (IASLIC) as the appointed speaker. Prof Lahkar, who is also an advisor to the ACLA, will deliver a talk on role of library in changing academic environment.

Dr Sarat Borkataki, president of Assam College Principals Council (ACPC); Biswajit Bhuyan, president, Assam College Teachers� Association (ACTA); Himanshu Maral, general secretary of ACTA; Srimonta Madhab Bora, president of ACLA; Dr Prasanta Kumar Deka, general secretary, ACLA along with other dignitaries from different parts of India will take part in the programme.
