Birdie Boro finishes runner-up

GUWAHATI, Oct 16 - Assam paddler Birdie Boro representing Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) had to be content with the runner-up trophy in the All India National Ranking Table Tennis Championship organised by West Zone at Rajkot from October 13 to 17. Ronit Bhanja of West Bengal emerged champion defeating Birdie in the final.

Earlier, Birdie defeated several top ranked U-21 players including Utkarsh Gupta of Delhi 4-1 in quarters and Sanish Amberkar of Maharashtra 4-1 in the semifinal. In the men�s category also Birdie played exceptionally well and defeated top players like Sudhansu Grover of PSPB to reach the pre-quarters but lost against Ronit Bhanja 4-2.

In the recently held All India Inter Institution Table Tennis Championship held at Jaipur, Birdie guided his PSPB youth team to the team title.

Assam Table Tennis Association (ATTA) president Rockibul Hussain and secretary Tridip Duvarah congratulated Birdie for his consistent show at the national level, stated a press release.
