TINSUKIA, April 15 - Under the joint aegis of all the organisations of Moran community namely, the All Moran Students� Union, Asom Moran Sabha, Sadou Moran Kala Sangskriti Bikash Kendra, Moran Jatiya Mahila Parishad, Moran Bikash Karmachari Saikhik Bikash Mancha and Moran Sahitya Sabha, the Bir Raghav Moran memorial day was observed at the District Library auditorium here on Thursday.
The meeting held on the occasion was presided by Diteswer Moran, president, Asom Moran Sabha. Renowned writer, Indibor Deori was conferred the first Bir Raghav Moran prize at the meeting. The meeting was also addressed by Tarun Baruah, president, Moran Sahitya Sabha and Arun Jyoti Moran, president, All Moran Students� Union (AMSU) as the keynote speakers.
The souvenir published on the occasion was released by Bhulen Baruah, former president, AMSU. Iqbal Ahmed, advisor, All Assam Journalists� Association, Shantanu Das Borhajwal, president, Sonowal Kachari Jatiya Parishad and many other dignitaries attended the meeting. Earlier, the flags of the organisations were unfurled by the president of respective organisation and swahid tarpan was initiated by the general secretaries of the organisations.
