DIPHU, Nov 19 - A biography of Samsing Hanse was released recently at the Diphu Club here. The biography titled, Samsing Hanse Jivan Surabhi in Assamese was released by Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora.
The life and activities of late Samsing Hanse was collected and edited by writer Pabitra Borah and published by Diphu Sahitya Sabha. Late Samsing Hanse was a former Minister in the Government of Assam during the mid 80s. He was given the portfolios of Hills Area Development, Flood Control and Health and Family Welfare departments. Amidst his busy political career, Hanse was also an active writer. He wrote many books in both Karbi and Assamese languages.
Dr Bora while releasing the book said that Karbis are a distinct tribe and rich with unique culture, language and traditions. They have the right to protect their culture and language. Late Samsing Hanse was an active writer and contributed immensely to the Karbi tribe.
To make the language popular, he had written several books in Karbi, said Dr Bora. Mother tongue is the first language to learn and every person should know his mother tongue, he added. A greater Assam can only be formed by the assimilation of different ethnic tribes living in Assam. Their togetherness will contribute to the development of Assam, the Sabha�s president said.
Earlier Hangmiji Hanse, brother of late Hanse expressed his gratitude to the Diphu Sahitya Sabha for bringing out the book and also thanked Pabitra Borah who took the pain in collecting the sources and doing the editing of the book himself.
Former Asam Sahitya Sabha president, Padma Shri Rongbong Terang also spoke on the occasion mentioning late Hanse as a person who contributed a lot for the development of Karbi language. Diphu MLA, Sum Ronghang also spoke on the occasion.
The book release meeting was chaired by Ranjit Sen, president, Diphu Sahitya Sabha. Nanda Singh, Additional SP, Border; Biren Singha, sculptor, Suren Kramsa, president, Karbi Lammet Amei were also present.
