Binoy Das� body recovered

GUWAHATI, Oct 23 � The body of Binoy Mohan Das was recovered from a drain near bylane no-2 of Tarun Nagar around 10-10 this morning.

Das had gone missing after falling into an open drain at Zoo-Narengi Tiniali during the deluge on Friday evening. The day-long search operation launched by the district administration failed to trace the body yesterday.

The search resumed today and the body was located by some local people. �Some persons saw the body floating and informed us around 10-10 am. It was retrieved and we indentified it to be of BM Das,� a relative said.

Police and district administration officials were present when the body was recovered. It may be mentioned that the civic authorities have been blamed for the death.

The body was taken to his residence at Botahghuli, Panjabari, where a mournful situation prevailed. Later in the afternoon it was cremated at the Bhootnath crematorium.

Das (58) was a superintendent with the Kamrup Treasury, Panbazar.

He leaves behind his wife, two sons and a daughter besides a host of relatives.
