By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 21 - The State Bank of India (SBI) has undertaken a new initiative in the form of a speaker series programme called Bimonthly Lecture Series from this month. The series kicked off on Wednesday with the first lecture on Challenges of network connectivity in North East and possible solutions that was held at the SBI local head office here.

The inaugural speech was given by PVSLN Murty, Chief General Manager, SBI NE circle.

Four invited speakers Dr Shikhar Sharma, Registrar, Cotton University, Diganta Barman, Senior Technical Officer, National Informatics Centre, Nitin Moolchandani, Chief Technical Officer, Airtel, and Mahesh Kumar Seth, Chief General Manager, BSNL (supported by Pankaj Das, GM, BSNL) spoke on the occasion. Murty thanked all the guests present in the programme and delivered a short speech on the objectives behind introducing the lecture series.

Besides sponsoring such seminars, the SBI thought it is better to initiate such activities by the bank itself and this bimonthly lecture series is the outcome of this thought, Murty added. Topics like development of tourism, health, banking, sanitation, digitalisation, etc., will be taken up in the future editions of the lecture series.
