GUWAHATI, June 25 � �Ganashilpi� Bikram Sing Yein was remembered by the trilingual periodical Assam Lutad and Mising World jointly at a function held on the occasion of the 37th death anniversary of the singer-composer at the Barbari Assam Lutad Bhawan here on Wednesday, a press release stated.

�Yein was an artiste, who never craved for name and fame. But nowadays, unfortunately, he remains unrecognized and neglected by the government and others,� said Mising Agom Kebang Guwahati branch president Krishnaram Mili in his address at the function.

Radio artiste Abani Mili attended the function as the distinguished guest and recalled the contributions of the �Ganashilpi�. He also sang a couple of Bikram Sing Yein�s songs. Mising World vice president Uma Mili also recalled the contributions of Bikram Sing Yein.

The late artiste was devoted to progressive activities in the 1960s and was connected with the Assamese cultural endeavours and literary activities. He was associated with legendary singer-composer and litterateur Dr Bhupen Hazarika, �Natasurya� Phani Sarma, singer-composer Jayanta Hazarika and litterateur-politician Parag Chaliha, among others.

The assembly in the function decided to preserve and publish Bikram Sing Yein�s songs and literary works. It also decided to place a demand before the Mising Autonomous Council authorities for construction of a Bikram Sing Yein memorial cultural complex for conducting research, holding workshops on cultural matters.
